Who We Are
Our mission is to give care, compassion and enrichment to the dogs in Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. Your time and efforts will aide in increased adoptions and finding homes for all dogs! We are committed to providing consistent, reliable, and professional solutions for animal related problems which encourage responsible attitudes and allow people and animals to co-exist in a safer environment.
What We Do
This program is the most hands-on with our dogs of all of our programs. You will be taught skills in dog handling, teaching our dogs new things, exercising them and most importantly, giving them the one on one time they need to continue to thrive here at the shelter.
This requires a commitment of (1) two hour scheduled shift/time per week. Registration is $25 that includes a CCAS tee, treat bag and clicker to be paid at your first training session.
Requirements: 18+ years; Having watched both the New Volunteer Orientation & Shelter 101 video as well as signing the liability waiver and Code of Conduct. There are (3) two hour hands on training sessions with a mentor.
Once you have completed the training videos, please reach out to us at ccasv@cuyahogacounty.gov to set up your training dates.
(Additional classes of dog handling may be needed depending on the opportunity).
